Navratri 2020: Mother Goddess is worshiped on the eighth day, know the nature, story and mantra of mother

The 8th day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Mahagauri, the 8th incarnation of Maa Durga. Maa Mahagauri freed the world from evil forces.

Mother form 

She has three eyes and four hands. He has a trident in her right hand and her upper right arm is in Abhaya Mudra. While her lower left hand is in a pose to boon to his devotees and she is holding a damru in her left hand.

Mother face is very fair and clear and hence the she is compared to the conch, moon and white flower of kund.

Radiant and kind, Maa Mahagauri is usually depicted in white or green saris and rides bull. She is also known as Shvetambardhara. Maa Mahagauri cleanses the souls of her devotees and removes all their sins. She makes a calming effect on the lives of her devotees and she helps them improve their knowledge.

Worship Maa Mahagauri to get rid of the clutches of the physical world and remove the sorrows from your life, as she will lead you on the path of inner strength.

The story

It is said that Maa Mahagauri had done hard worship to attain Lord Shiva. This made her entire body black. Pleased with this austerity of the mother, Lord Shiva washed her body with holy water of the Ganges and made it radiant. Her form became Gaur Varna, that's why she is called Mahagauri. Since then, mother's name has changed to Mahagauri. It is also said that on this day, Mother Sita prayed to maa Mahagauri for Shri Ram.


या देवी सर्वभूतेषु मां महागौरी रूपेण संस्थिता। 

(Ya devi sarvabhuteshu maa mahagauri rupen sanstitha)

नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥

 (namastasya namastasya namastasya namo namha)

श्वेते वृषे समरूढ़ा श्वेताम्बरधरा शुचिः।  

(Sh-wetey vrishe samrudha shwetaambardhara shuchi) 

महागौरी शुभं दद्यान्महादेवप्रमोददा।।

(Mahagauri shubham dadyanmahadevpramodada)
